Related to summary: paraphrase
As nouns the difference between plot and summary is that plot is the course of a story, comprising a series of incidents which are gradually unfolded, sometimes by unexpected means while summary is an abstract or a condensed presentation of the substance of a body of material. As a verb plot is to conceive (a crime, etc).
summary
a brief account of the main points of something; outline, précis, synopsis: Please provide a summary of the book.- Plot refers to the storyline of the text. The plot is the sequence of events in the story or drama. There are several elements that are common to all plots: The introduction, or exposition, is the beginning of the story where the characters and the conflict are introduced.
- The protagonist of the story is Alex, a fifteen-year-old boy who narrates in a teenage slang called nadsat, which incorporates elements of Russian and Cockney English. Alex leads a small gang of teenage criminals—Dim, Pete, and Georgie—through the streets, robbing and beating men and raping women.
